Farashganj SC quit from the crore taka title race of the Citycell Super Cup Football despite beating all-loser Chittagong Abahani by 2-0 goals in their last Group B match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday, reports UNB.
With the day’s maiden win, Farashgang SC secured four points from all the three group matches.
Chittagong Abahani completed their super cup engagements without any point, playing all the three matches.
On completion of Group B matches with Mohammedan SC playing one-all draw with Brothers Union Club Monday evening, both Mohammedan and Brothers reached the Cup semis as group champions and runners-up, both with unbeaten run, securing seven and five points respectively.
In the day’s first match, Khokon Das and Uganda recruit Idriss Mutobi scored one goal each for Farashganj, which led the first half 1-0.
Khokon Das put Farashganj SC ahead in the 25th minute with a powerful shot from inside the D-box utilizing a Mohammad Yousuf close range pass (1-0).
After the breather, striker Idriss doubled the team margin in the 75th minute by an angular shot from the danger zone after receiving a pass from Yousuf (2-0).
Farashganj SC played comparatively better football and notched their deserving victory while Chittagong Abahani failed to produce any real attacks in the entire proceedings.

Meanwhile, B League champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will play Brothers Union Club in the first match of the two-round semifinals of the crore-taka Citycell Super Cup Football tournament Thursday (Mar 19) at 5:pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Traditional Dhaka Mohammedan SC will face Chittagong Mohammedan SC in the other first round semifinal on Friday (Mar 20) at the time and same venue.
In the return cup semifinals, Dhaka Abahani will play Brothers Union again on Mar 23 while two Mohammedans will meet each other again on Mar 24.
The best two teams of the two-match semifinals will play in the final, the battle for the first-ever Citycell tournament on March 27 at 5 pm at the same venue. The two losing cup semifinalists will play each other in a third place-deciding match on the same day at 3 pm.
Four lowly teams of the eight-team super cup football—Sheikh Russell KC, Farashganj SC, Rahmatganj MFS and Chittagong Abahani—will also play in the consolation semifinals for the plate.
In the single round basis plate semis, Sheikh Russell KC will play Chittagong Abahani on March 21 while Farashganj SC will meet Rahmatganj MFS on March 22, both at 5:pm at the same venue. The final match for the plate will be held on March 25 at 5:pm.
